PROGRAMS
Our dance program offers a diverse experience for dancers of all levels. Whether taking a dance class for the first time or having extensive training, students will develop advanced dance knowledge and training through our program. We pride ourselves on giving every student an experience beyond the high school level and preparing them for potential collegiate and professional level dance opportunities.
Have you ever wanted to learn how to play the piano? Well, now you can all during your normal school day! We offer Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Piano to accommodate students of all levels. In Piano, you will learn how to read music, compose, sight-read, ear-train, and of course play the instrument.
Our Theatre Department provides opportunities through high quality mainstage and Black Box productions, musicals, dinner theater, and more. Students also explore the non-performance aspects of theater: production crews, lights and sound designer/operators, playwriting, and assistant directing - all within an artistically inclusive setting.
Through professional experiences in the local area and nationwide, Newport Harbor Vocal Music provides students with the opportunities to grow as young singers. Whether it be in one of our choral ensembles, open mic nights, solo concerts, inter-department musicals, or Broadway productions in New York City, students receive rigorous and exceptional vocal training for the concert stage.
Musicians in the instrumental music program enjoy varied and numerous performing experiences in and around California, throughout the school year. Whether playing in the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Midshipman Jazz Band, Marching Sailor Regiment, Winter Drum Line or Winter Guard, students graduate from instrumental music possessing the leadership skills, tenacity, and confidence to succeed in life.
The NHPAA + CTE/VA Student Leadership Committee exists to provide student led support for the visual/performing arts and career/technical education programs at Newport Harbor High School and enhance the artistic and marketing reach of our departments. We regularly partner with fellow student leadership programs (ASB, Link Crew, Bridges, etc.) to advocate for inclusion and celebration of the arts at Newport Harbor High School.
